Swiss legends - William Tell, the alpine dwarfs, the bells under the lake, the saints of the passes - retold by an American writer who worked from the cantonal collections. One of a series in which Griffis did the same for Japan, Korea, Belgium and the Dutch. This edition carries sixty plates of Swiss painting bound with the text, among them works by Albert Anker, Robert Zünd and Rudolf Koller, with subjects from the Gotthard Post to the wine festival.
