Zusammenfassung

Inner Heart: A Journey is a lyrical and metaphysical poetry collection that explores the emotional, spiritual, and symbolic landscapes of human experience. Through vivid imagery, introspective tone, and carefully crafted language, Candice James reflects on love, longing, memory, grief, nostalgia, separation, renewal, and the fragile nature of human connection. The poems move through forests, deserts, oceans, dreamscapes, rain slicked cities, and quiet interior spaces, creating a shifting tapestry of emotional resonance and spiritual reflection that invites readers to inhabit each scene as both witness and participant. Originally published privately in 2011, this second edition is released publicly in 2026, bringing a lost early work into the light with updated presentation, restored sequencing, and new cover art. Inner Heart: A Journey stands as a bridge between the intimate voice of a younger poet and the seasoned perspective of a writer whose life has been steeped in art, music, and literature. The collection blends romantic introspection with visionary metaphysical elements, offering readers a journey through the inner workings of the heart and the evolving landscapes of time, identity, and emotional transformation. Throughout the book, James uses symbolic motifs such as light and shadow, water and smoke, mirrors and seasons, streets and shorelines, to express the movement of feeling and the transitions of spirit. Trees, rivers, oceans, deserts, rain slicked pavement, and star filled skies become mirrors for the inner life. The poems explore the ache of absence, the beauty of remembrance, and the quiet revelations that arise from emotional depth and sustained reflection. Each piece stands alone as a distinct moment, yet contributes to a larger arc of discovery, loss, and renewal. Inner Heart: A Journey invites readers to step into a world shaped by tenderness, yearning, and introspective clarity. It is a book for those who seek emotional truth, poetic imagery, and a contemplative exploration of the human heart. The collection offers a meditation on the ways love transforms us, how memory shapes us, and how grief can carve new pathways toward understanding and acceptance. James writes with a voice that is both intimate and expansive, weaving personal experience with universal themes that resonate across time, geography, and circumstance. Inner Heart: A Journey stands as a testament to the enduring power of poetry to illuminate the inner life and to give shape to feelings that are often difficult to name. It speaks to the complexities of love, the shadows of loss, and the quiet strength found in reflection and spiritual searching. With its blend of lyrical expression and metaphysical insight, this collection offers a meditation on the human heart and the spark of spirit that carries us through the shifting seasons of life.

Candice James is a full member of the League of Canadian Poets, Poet Laureate Emerita of New Westminster, BC, a novelist, visual artist, musician, and singer songwriter whose work explores the quiet thresholds between memory, spirit, and the unseen. Her writing moves through the inner landscapes of love, loss, intuition, and the long arc of a life lived deeply. Her work has been studied internationally, including in a university in Amman, Jordan, where Prof. Rashed Issa included her poetry in his academic project on contemporary women's poetry alongside Gabriela Mistral, Emily Dickinson, and Sylvia Plath. Her work has also been translated into Arabic by poet and scholar Nissar Sartawi and published in the Jordanian newspaper Ad Dustour, extending her reach into Middle Eastern literary circles. Her work has also been translated into Italian and Arabic by several international poets and scholars, including Mario Rigli, Mohammad Al Dabi, and Baha Alak, with her poems appearing in bilingual publications and literary journals abroad. She has spent decades creating prose, poetry, music, and art that reflect the many realms of the in between. Her voice carries the resonance of devotion, the ache of experience, and the clarity that comes only with time. She continues to write poetry and novels, paint, compose, and walk the shifting pathways of imagination from her home in New Westminster, BC.
