Kimball Converse Pier is a depth psychologist and a practicing therapist with thirty years of experience. After dropping out of high school following her mother's suicide, she attended Sierra Community College in 1976, competing on the first women's cross-country team. Kimball went on to become a professional distance runner and competed in the 1984, 1988, and 1992 Women's Olympic Marathon Trials. Kimball ran as a nationally ranked distance runner and was selected to represent the United States in international competitions. Kimball earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Washington in 1995 and her master's in marriage and family therapy from Seattle Pacific University in 1997. She returned to California in 2005, working in community mental health. After completing her doctorate in depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2013, she now lives near Lake Tahoe with her husband Jon and their two Dachshunds. Kimball has two grown children and two grandchildren. Her first book, "Killing Penelope - A Daughter's Memoir of Failed Rescues," was published in 2017.
