Honouring fathers is a book that highlights the relationship between the father and the son. This relationship is vital since just as the father needs the son so does the son need the father.
This implies that the father cannot accomplish what he has been called to do without the son's input.
The son is meant to be the heir of their father's inheritance. This is why;
1. Papa Abraham wanted to adopt Eleazar his faithful servant as his next of kin.
2. Prophet Malachi said the hearts of the fathers will have to be returned to their sons and the hearts of the sons to be returned to their fathers lest the earth be cursed with a curse.
This means a broken relationship between a father and a son can attract a curse from the Lord upon the land.
"Behold, I will send Elijah the prophet, before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse" Malachi 4:5-6
Now we understand from the above scripture that John the Baptist came in the spirit of Elijah to fulfill Malachi's prophecy. Mathew 11:14 confirms that there were similarities between John the Baptist's ministry and Prophet Elijah's ministry. His appearance, his way of dressing, his food, and his confrontation with kings, etc. were a few of the similarities evident in Elijah's life
The spirit of Elijah was to bring reconciliation between the hearts of the father and the heart of the sons, failure to which the earth would be cursed.
The restoration of fatherhood in the church today is vital to the fulfillment of God's purpose on earth. This is why it must be treated with utmost care and urgency.
The purpose of this book is to bring awareness of the roles of the father and the son and to show the importance of the father-son relationship that brings healing to the land.
