Dog groomer Harlee Brady's big dream is to see Orcas in their natural habitat. At twenty-three, she has pretty much given up on it. Out of the blue, a precious old friend named Artie, invites her to celebrate his 85th birthday on an all expenses paid weekend in Antarctica on a yacht. She quickly accepts but wonders how on earth a travel writer from Redford, Tennessee can afford to rent a boat big enough to accommodate twenty-five guests and a full crew.
The view beyond the rails is spectacular and the other guests are nice, but Harlee quickly realizes she's the only person surprised that the yacht actually belongs to their host, who is turning out to be a mystery man. That's why she asks LA detective Travis Wade, another party guest, some pointed questions when he shares his coat while they're whale watching. Never mind the cop's good looks and friendly smile. Lousy at love, she gave up on finding her Mr. Right months ago. Harlee's only there for Artie and the Orcas.
But parting with her old and new friends at the airport is much sadder than expected. And once Harlee's back in her Tennessee groove, it takes a while for her to admit she's living for Travis' weekly stay-in-touch texts. So much for out of sight, out of mind. The man is definitely in her head. Is he also in her heart? Harlee refuses to consider that possibility. What's the point when Travis is apparently living his best life in far off LA...or is he?
