Graham Shaw is a theoretical particle physicist who taught for many years at the University of Manchester. His other successful textbooks include Particle Physics (4^th edition 2017) and An Introduction to Nuclear and Particle Physics 3^rd edition (2019), both with Brian Martin.

Franz Mandl (1923-2009) was a British theoretical physicist celebrated for his teaching. He was a co-founder and editor of the renowned Manchester Physics textbook series, to which he contributed the books on Statistical Physics (2^nd edition 1988) and Quantum Mechanics (1992).
