Hermann Egger was born in 1963 and grew up on the farm and the associated guesthouse, the "Gästepension Hohenhaus," in Hintertux in the Austrian state of Tyrol. He attended the monastery boarding school in Fiecht in Tyrol, served an apprenticeship as a chef and spent several years working in the profession in Austria and Switzerland in preparation for his later career. Today, he is an entrepreneur. Over many years, he wrote down the stories which were handed down from generation to generation in his family as told to him by his mother and, at the suggestion of publisher Klaus G. Förg, decided to publish this authentic report from contemporary witnesses in the form of a novel.
