This book is a fundamental source for the history of al-Andalus: the Risā, lat Rū,ḥ, al-quds (Epistle of Holiness) by Ibn 'Arabī, from Murcia. In this work dedicated to his Tunisian friend al-Mahdawī, the immortal Andalusian mystic discusses the profound meaning of the spiritual path and the lives of the masters of al-Andalus, who educated him and guided him to become the great sage and mystic that he was. Fascinating lives and anecdotes of authentic spiritual masters and masters, most of them forgotten by history, with a close and sometimes disconcerting flavour. Ibn 'Arabī, helps us to better understand Sufism and the spirituality of al-Andalus. This new edition updates the one written by the prestigious Arabist Miguel Asín Palacios in 1933. It is a fundamental text for understanding the renaissance of Akbarid studies that have brought Ibn 'Arabī, Ibn 'Arabī's thought back to the West. Asín provides us with an exquisite translation, based on the manuscripts of the Escorial and Father Morata, of this text, which is full of lucid and unique moments. This excellent Spanish version is accompanied by an introductory study by Antonio de Diego González, who contextualises Asín's text, contributing new findings and interpretations.
