A rhyming children's picture book about a French bulldog who is bullied because he snorts, this award-winning story teaches children to value their differences as gifts and to treat themselves and others with love and acceptance.
Samantha Childs wanted to write children's books ever since she was a child. Following a BA in Literature from Claremont McKenna College, a year studying Shakespeare at Oxford University, a JD from UCLA, and an MFA in Nonfiction from Columbia University, a little French bulldog named Henri came into her life and gave breath to her first children's book. Henri and the Magnificent Snort is the winner of the Christopher Award and tells the story of Henri Le Frenchie, Samantha's dog and Instagram celebrity @henrilefrenchie, as he overcomes bullying and discovers how lovable he truly is. The story is inspired by Samantha's experiences being bullied in middle school, and by the hope that its messages of celebrating differences, belonging, love, and self-love will help others to see their own magnificence. Funded by the Dr. Seuss Foundation, the bilingual English & Spanish Edition of Henri and the Magnificent Snort / Henri Y El Magnífico Ronquidito was created to help spread these messages and teach bullying prevention in bilingual elementary schools.
