This story is set one hundred and fifty years into our future. Globalism is accepted as the best way this planet can support ten billion humans as well as the animals and plants we presently have. The United Nations has been superseded by The Agreement. Nationalism of nations to protect their own without reference to other inhabitants of our planet is no longer accepted. These books imagine a different world. Nations have lost some of their sovereignty. Global management and governance authority is vested in The Agreement. Weapons of war including of defence are now only manufactured under licence to The Agreement and are controlled by that entity with the support of member nations. All member nations contribute a percentage of their GDP to fund The Agreement. The individuals you will meet are exceptional. People who are elected to control the activities of The Agreement. But like any group of people, they have personal lives and relationships.
