Financial Advisor Hailey Wingate discovers a million dollars has mysteriously disappeared from one of her client's accounts, and that the client has been murdered. Facing termination, and possibly prison, she thinks things couldn't possibly get worse. But things do get worse when she is deliberately pushed off a subway platform into the path of an oncoming train.

Fellow advisor Alan Craig has had a thing for Hailey for years. Involved as a teenager in a horrific accident, Alan still carries the emotional scars at being unable to save his girlfriend.
