As the title may indicate, this chapbook/poetry book contains approximately 50 thought provoking, conversation 'kickers', ice-breakers, or personal, nodding to yourself style poetry. Mostly political, yet is inclusive of a variety of opinionated commentary on prominent issues of the press & journalists behind the scenes. Please allow me to further explain my impetus behind this book. What has brought me to this juncture (to become a published poet) includes many profound & devastating life events, talk therapy and considerable journaling in the form of poetry. For approximately 13 months I have been writing poetry via my phone or iPad, in lieu of the therapeutic 'journaling', which I have previously attempted in significant amounts with no real success…unfulfilling for me.
What I did mostly with those endeavors, was spew venom on paper regarding specific losses in my life, as well as those I blame. In composing a poem, which at least starts with an inception of a somewhat coherent subject, you can minimize rambling & poisonous darts that I tend to want to fire at a few personal foes. I would typically come up with a title first, as my mind meandered through thoughts, ideas, concepts, philosophies, opinions, etc. "Always remain curious", many have stated wisely. Leonardo da Vinci was no poet, yet Bob Zimmerman (Mr. Robert Zimmerman/ Dylan of Hibbing, MN) was one of the tops for one half of a century. I claim no genius as those two men, yet I have opinions, philosophies & ideologies as do others. Per my CV I have many other skills around project management. My top skills I am working with since being retired from IBM after 45 years, are my creativity in the 'fine arts', a category that could be defined in oh so many creative ways.
Please enjoy the poetry, talk about it with people, or allow it to compel you to 'think' a bit differently on some subjects. Please feel free to contact me as well, to compel a change of thought in me. EVERYONE HAS A RIGHT TO WRITE & READ AS THEY CHOOSE. LAST COMMENTARY IS; WHAT MOST OF YOU KNOW ALREADY, A HUMAN HAS A RIGHT AS MUCH AS A HUMAN TO THIER RIGHT, OR LEFT!
I hope very much to epublish other chapbooks of varying length & subjects. My 'dream' for now is to compile a book of poetry about the recovery effort as an alcoholic/addict, grief and how things are in that process for me, a 66 year old man who knows my little piece of the journey (at least from my perspective, which some would say is suspect itself). If you've read this, then I appreciate it very much!!
