Additive manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, is an integrated materials processing technology, including computer-aided design, material design and forming. Compared with conventional processing (i.e., raw material removal cutting and assembly), AM is a bottom-up approach that uses material accumulation, thus making it possible to manufacture complex structural parts. Compared to metallic and polymeric materials, AM of ceramics has not been well reported and documented in the research literature.
This reference text will provide a comprehensive review of the achievements in the field of processing of ceramic-based materials with complex geometry through the use of additive manufacturing (AM) technologies.
