Life in Art and Practice is a collection of stand-alone, mysterious, 'mini short stories', set in the world of late twentieth century Britain.
It includes characters and situations in 'art and practice' - the practice being both medical practice and the practice of life as we live, learning as we go. The 'art' refers both to the visual arts and to the art of deception.
The stories feature ambition, deception, despair, longing, and dreaming...the magical in the ordinary, confronting reality and human relationships sideways, with the question What if?
In the stories, characters find themselves in a liminal space, with choices, often involving relationships to make or situations to understand. These decisions will impact on or decide their futures, and sometimes the decisions move into magical realism, leading the reader to wonder if this has been made for them.
