There are detailed and well-written descriptions of army life at the timefrom basic training at Camp Polk, Louisiana, to the journey by ship through the Panama Canal, to Japan, then on to Korea. Included are descriptions of the countryside, the people, barracks life, and the importance of mail on morale. Plus, the frustrations, disappointments, uncertainties, and rumors and their effect on a well-adjusted individual. Names have been changed to avoid possible embarrassment to individuals.
