SAMPLE EXCERPT:
"What was the inspiration behind the creation of this book?"
The story behind Graveminder came from the UK, a place that Melissa Marr and her family would annually visit. Particularly, she was traveling in Ireland in 2007 when she read a paragraph or so about the "hungry dead." As an author, Melissa Marr finds her inspiration in books, songs, people around her, lore, and everything else in her surroundings. Her series, Wicked Lovely, was actually inspired by Scottish lore. For Graveminder, Melissa Marr based her story on the lore that the dead must be nourished with food, drink and story for a set time. If the needs of the dead were not provided, the dead will come back and claim flesh, blood and breath, instead. She also considered the concept of liminality in creating the two worlds that she introduced in Graveminders. She considered that, in the real world, there are always opposites such as, in and out, good or bad, pros or con. She created a world that would combine these two sides and came up with the dead being able to walk among the living and the living being able to walk among the dead
